Who was “Brown” in Brown v. Board of Education?

Linda Brown was an elementary school student in Topeka, Kansas. Her father, Oliver Brown, agreed to be one of the families represented by the local NAACP in its fight against segregated schools. The Browns were one of thirteen families involved in the lawsuit.
