Justice Byron White played professional football with the Pittsburgh Pirates (now Steelers) and the Detroit Lions. He led the National Football League in rushing in his rookie year of 1938 with the Pirates. White earned All-American honors as a running back for the University of Colorado, where he earned the nickname “Whizzer.”
