What decision did Brown v. Board of Education overrule?

The Court overruled its 1896 decision Plessy v. Ferguson, which had established the separate-but-equal doctrine. The Court ruled that the separate-but-equal doctrine had “no place” in public education. The Brown decision led to the invalidation of a whole host of segregation laws across the country.
