What land purchase did Pierce’s administration oversee that increased U.S. land in the southwest?

The Gadsden Purchase, named after U.S. minister to Mexico, James Gadsden, added the southern edge of Arizona and parts of New Mexico to the United States. The U.S. purchased the land from Mexico pursuant to a treaty signed by President Pierce on June 24, 1853.
