Who was Qi?

Qi was the culture hero of the Shang people. He was miraculously conceived, and thus identified for us as a bona fide hero, by Jiandi, Emperor Di Ku’s second concubine, when she ate a swallow’s egg while taking a bath. Qi assisted Yu in his struggle against the great flood.
