Who was Nuwa? |
Nuwa is the Great Goddess of Chinese mythology. She had a woman’s head and a serpent’s body. As was the hero-god Fuxi, the creator of humans, Nuwa was also one of the greatest of the culture heroes. It was she, for instance, who taught men and women to mate in order to have children. When the four pillars that held up the sky fell down because of the war in heaven between Zhuanxu and Gonggong, it was Nuwa who repaired things.
