The Greek Pantheon and the Olympians

Who was Artemis?

Apollo’s twin sister was Artemis, goddess of the hunt and childbirth. She was fiercely protective of her sacred virginity. The story is told of how the young hunter Actaeon happened upon the goddess in the woods, where she was bathing in a pond. Artemis was so furious at having been seen naked that she turned the boy into a stag and set his own hounds on him to tear him apart.
