Muhammad

Who is the primary Islamic hero?

By far, the most important human hero in the Islamic narrative is Muhammad. He is the final Prophet, the ultimate messenger of Allah. Over the years many myths emerged about Muhammad’s life. Two stories can be called canonical. These are the receiving by Muhammad of the Qur’an, the true “word of God,” and the Night Journey to Jerusalem and Ascension from there to Heaven (al-isra’wa miraj).
