Thinking Woman is a Great Goddess of several of the the Keres-speaking Pueblo Indians of New Mexico. Among the people of the Acoma Pueblo, an ancient village popularly known as “Sky City,” as it sits on top of a butte, Thinking woman is a central figure in the creation myth. Her Indian name is Tsichtinako, and she is a corn goddess, who originally lived under the earth. She is, in fact, the personification of earth itself, the earth goddess who gives birth to two daughters: Iatiku (“Life Bringer”) and Nautsiti (“Full Basket”). It is these two who direct the process by which the people and plants emerge from under the earth into our world.
