What was Hades’s role? |
To his dark brother Hades, Zeus gave the Underworld and the riches hidden there. Usually he is not officially counted as an Olympian because he was rarely if ever on Mount Olympus. He preferred Hades, the place named for him. Hades shared the violent tendencies and appetites of his brothers. In his most famous escapade he burst out of his realm to capture Persephone, the beautiful young daughter of his sister Demeter, while she played among flowers.
