The Myth of Isis, Osiris, and Horus

What happened to Osiris after his death?

Isis and Nephtys watch over the body of Osiris and, by way of ritual lamentations and spells, restore him to life sufficiently to make it possible for him to impregnate Isis as she flutters over him in bird form. This is the miraculous conception of Horus. Scholars have pointed out that Isis’ role in restoring Osiris’ virility is analogous to the Hand Goddess of Atum who brought the creator god to orgasm and thus instigated creation itself.
