What happened to Odysseus after the events of the Odyssey? |
Many stories were commonly told about Odysseus after his return to Ithaca. One story held that, to regain the favor of the offended Poseidon, he traveled inland with a Poseidian trident until the trident was no longer recognized. In this way Odysseus became a de facto missionary of the great sea god who had caused him so much pain.
