When was the first hospital established in North America?

It was in 1503 when the Spanish built a hospital in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic (then known as Hispaniola). It is no longer in existence, but ruins remain.

On the North American mainland, the first hospital was opened in Quebec, Canada, in 1639. The first incorporated hospital in the United States was the Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, chartered in 1751 with the support of statesman Benjamin Franklin (1706–1790).
