In the arms race between predator and prey, a change in the behavior of one species can drive adaptation in another (coevolution). Many rodent species, for example, are adapted to life at night, but their predators have gained adaptations to night work as well. Owls and foxes have special adaptations that allow them to hunt at night for nocturnally active rodents, such as field mice, moles, and voles.
