Who was Charles Robert Darwin? |
English naturalist Charles Robert Darwin (1809–1882) was the first to propose the theory of natural selection—an idea that revolutionized all aspects of natural science. Darwin was born into a family of physicians and planned to follow his father and grandfather in that profession. Unable to stand the sight of blood, he studied divinity at Cambridge and received a degree from the university in 1830.
