As scientists find out more about various fungi, they become better at dividing the organisms into their true, respective groups. Thus, several types of organisms are often mistakenly called by an incorrect name. For example, some organisms called mold or fungus are not part of the kingdom Fungi—in particular, slime molds and water molds. These organisms are called Oomycota; slime molds are now known to be a mix of three or four unrelated groups, while all the oomycetes of this group are classified in the Cromista, along with diatoms and brown algae.
