Who was Abigail?

Abigail was Nabal’s wife. She was “intelligent and good-looking.” (The Message, I Samuel 25:3) She brought David and his men many gifts, and persuaded David not to kill anyone that day. David was touched by Abigail’s gifts and words, and did as she requested. When Nabal found out what she did, “ he had a heart attack and fell into a coma.” (The Message, I Samuel 25:37) Ten days later, Nabal died. David did not forget Abigail. After Nabal died, David wooed her and married her.
