What tragedy occurred during the transporting of the ark from Kiriath-jearim to Jerusalem?

At first, the mood was happy. The Bible says, “David and all the people of Israel were celebrating before the LORD with all their might, singing songs and playing all kinds of musical instruments—lyres, harps, tambourines, castanets and cymbals.” (NLT, II Samuel 6:5) They transported the ark using a team of oxen. At one point, the oxen stumbled. Uzzah, son of Abinidab the priest, reached out his hand to steady the ark. The Bible says, “The LORD’s anger blazed out against Uzzah for doing this, and God struck him dead beside the Ark of God.” (NLT, II Samuel 6:7)
