In laws passed down by Moses, God warned the Israelites about marrying foreign women. God did not want the Israelites to follow the gods of other nations. That is just what happened with Solomon. The Bible says, “In Solomon’s old age, they [his foreign wives] turned his heart to worship their gods instead of trusting only in the LORD his God, as his father, David, had done.” (NLT, I Kings 11:4)
