Did Absalom become king?

No. It was not for lack of trying, though. Absalom went to David’s palace and slept with the ten concubines who were there looking after things. This showed the Israelites that Absalom was in power. It was just as God said. David took one man’s wife and tried to keep it secret. David’s son, Absalom, took ten of his father’s concubines, and made it so that all of Israel knew about it.

Ultimately, David’s men won the battle against Absalom’s men. Absalom was killed in a most inglorious manner. As he rode his mule through the battlefield, he passed under a tree. His head got stuck in the branches. While he hung suspended from the tree, one of David’s men came and killed him.
