In Chinese, feng shui literally means, “wind-water.” At the heart of feng shui, which is a Daoist belief system, is the concept that invisible energy flows known as “dragon lines” or qi can have an effect on human lives. Architects concerned with feng shui would take this energy into consideration when planning or designing a building. Humans also have the power to affect qi by landscaping and building canals, for example. Feng shui consultants continue to advise architects on ideal designs for buildings, especially in China.
