What is celadon ware?

Celadon ware is a type of Korean ceramic from the Koryo period made with translucent, pigmented glazes. Usually gray, pale blue-green, and olive in tone, celadon ware from the eleventh century was known for its simplicity, while examples from the twelfth century were more complex, often inlaid or stamped with decorative elements, such as black and white pictorial scenes.
