Mosan art is a Romanesque style of art greatly influenced by Classical sources and associated with the Meuse Valley region, which reaches from France to the Netherlands along the path of the Meuse River. The terms encompasses architecture, painting, and sculpture, though twelfth century Meuse Valley sculptors are particularly known for their mastery of metalworking. Mosan art is considered less abstract that the Romanesque art of other regions, featuring realistic anatomy and proportions (as opposed to the elongated figures of Gislebertus).
