Introduction

What is the difference between voluntary and involuntary muscle movements?

Muscle movements that an individual consciously controls are referred to as voluntary. Some examples of voluntary muscle movements would be when an individual walks or picks up an object. Involuntary muscle movements are those that occur without an individual’s conscious control. An example of involuntary muscle movement is the pumping action of the heart.
