How quickly do nerve impulses travel?

Nerve impulses travel at an average of 160 feet/second (50 meters/second). The slowest nerve impulses travel at 2.5 feet/second (0.7 meters/second) in small unmyelinated (uninsulated) fibers. Nerve impulses in large myelinated (insulated) fibers can travel at 395 feet/second (120 meters/second) or faster.
