What are the odds against being struck by lightning?

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration estimates the odds of being struck by lightning are 1 in 700,000. However, the odds drop to 1 in 240,000 based on the number of unreported lightning strikes. The odds of being stuck by lightning in one’s lifetime are 1 in 3,000.
